Everyone is excited about Trump’s Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Idaho needs to jump on that bandwagon. Our state budget has grown by 55% over the past five years, and it’s time to get serious about making every taxpayer dollar count by cutting out the waste.
Even in a deep red state, Idaho is not exempt from the dangers of excessive government spending. Our ballooning budget is placing a greater burden on hardworking Idaho families. Idahoans deserve a government that respects their sacrifices and manages tax dollars as carefully as families manage their own budgets.
In the upcoming legislative session, I and this group of legislators—Christy Zito, Kent Marmon, Lucas Cayler, Clint Hostetler, Faye Thompson, David Leavitt, and Josh Kohl—will work to cut government waste, fraud, and abuse to put more money back in taxpayers’ pockets.
Where do you see government spending in Idaho that could be cut? In the comments, let us know how we can make a difference for Idaho families, or find us at @DOGE_Idaho on X.
Cut out any benefits for non citizens. That's a good start. Limit federal money coming in to the state. That will force reasonable cutbacks in all departments of Idaho govt.
Thank you for setting up IDAHO DOGE! Brilliant. A few suggestions...
1. No benefits for non-citizens. NONE!
2. Roll back Medicaid expansion. All able-bodied must have time limitations and work requirements.
3. Cut Idaho Health and Welfare and Education to the bone.
4. Cut the services from health districts, many of which provide harmful products including COVID shots, other "immunizations," and fluoride treatments.
5. Refuse any federal funding or grants that require quid pro quo. These often harm more than they help and can cost more than the money received after the required hoop jumping.
